THE CORINTHIANS STONINGTON TO BOOTHBAY HARBOR RACE

The first major ocean race to be inaugurated in almost 30 years, starting on July 27, 2008

 

"The Lobster Run!"


 

The first gun will be at 11AM on Sunday, July 27, 2008.


The race will start off Stonington, round the Nantucket Shoals buoys, and finish at Boothbay Harbor, Maine.


The course length is 332 nautical miles. It will be a navigator's race, since yachts will have to choose whether to sail north or south of Block Island. A similar choice will be posed at Squirrel Island, on the approach to the finish.

 


The race will be a US Sailing sanctioned ORC Category 2 event. Divisions:

                           1. ORR
                           2. PHRF Racer
                           3. PHRF Cruiser
                           4. PHRF Cruiser Non-Spinaker

Each yacht will carry a transponder that will allow position reporting which may be followed online.
